12.02.16 High dynamic servo inverter for ultra-precision applications
Drive specialist TQ-Systems is supplementing its lineup of client-specific high-performance drive systems with the new RoboDrive brand SDB-40-100 universal servo inverter.
The servo inverter operates at a cycle frequency of up to 100 kHz to achieve a high level of control quality. Moreover, the TQ device is also able to sample the current up to 100 kHz. To be able to process the resulting data volume in real time, a FPGA with high computing power is used to meet the highest requirements for dynamics in power control. This also makes it possible to operate motors with low inductivity while simultaneously minimizing ripple.

The SDB-40-100 supports all commonly used encoder interfaces for acquiring position and speed data, including the fast digital BiSS-C interface. The extensive control structure with many different filter and precontrol options enables their use in demanding drive tasks.

The servo inverter offers a certified EtherCAT interface for real-time applications, a CANOpen interface and the STO (Safe Torque Off) safety feature. Above all, the high-performance inverter offers high customer value in its control quality that has nothing comparable on the market.

The combination of TQ core competences in hardware and software development and internal company expertise in robotics and robotic-like applications means that the servo inverters can be operated with any commonly used types of electric motors such as BLDC, AC, DC, stepper and reluctance motors.

The SDB-40-100 for low voltage applications, with supply voltages ranging from 12 to max. 100 VDC, outputs up to 3,400 watts of nominal power with maximum dynamics and control quality. The very compact inverter, measuring 220 x 140 x 40 millimeters (W x H x D) and weighing just 1085 grams, impresses with nominal currents of up to 40 amperes.
