BiSS Interface at a Glance
Explore the well-established open standard that facilitates an isochronous data transmission in high-performance sensor and actuator systems, particularly in motion control applications.
- Open standard
- Suitable for sensors and actuators
- Enables isochronous data transfer with short cycle times below 10 μs
- Supports daisy-chaining of sensors and actuators
- Low jitter
- Robust due to CRC protection
- Integrated bidirectional communication channel for register accesses without break of sensor/actuator data transfer
- Suitable for functional safety with BiSS Safety
- Reduced wiring with BiSS Line one-cable technology

What BiSS Users say
"BiSS interfaces offer a future-proof, open standard for high-performance motor feedback applications. Their digital robustness, real-time capability and flexibility make BiSS C and BiSS Line key enablers for smart drive technology and next-generation IIoT concepts."
Fritz Kübler GmbH
"BiSS C has arrived in motor feedback encoders as a real-time capable interface for servo drives.
Lean and equipped with a free license, the control loop can be closed performantly and cost-effectively."
Baumer Germany GmbH & Co.KG
"The simplicity but at the same time high performance of the BiSS Interface make it one of the best solutions for commutation and dynamic motion control."
maxon motor ag
"The BiSS interface is through its high data integrity, good standardization and multisubscriber on one master capability an ideal interface for our magnetic length measuring systems in a wide spectrum of different applications."
Elgo Electronic GmbH & Co.KG
"BiSS C and BiSS Line, as open and established standards, enable the implementation of a cost-effective and high-performance interface for motor feedback encoders. Product certification ensures market interoperability, which we have implemented with our products from the very beginning."
Fraba GmbH
"We see an increasing demand and high potential for drive systems using sensors with BiSS Interface. Reliable high-speed communication and low pin count convince our customers. Bidirectional communication allows cost efficient configuration."
maxon motor ag
"BiSS has established as the standard in position encoders, which makes it a logical choice for torque sensors in robot joints.
As an active member of the BiSS Association e.V., Sensodrive has shaped the BiSS standard for torque sensors.
Our experience will continue to be incorporated into the official BiSS standards."
"BiSS is a unique data transmission protocol, that is very flexible and easy to use with a great number of options for compatible integrated circuits prepared for a wide range of different applications. Due to the protocol extensions like BiSS Safety and BiSS Line, it still is state of the art and even supports requirements of modern electrical communication systems."
